Why Women Over 50 Deserve Better Outdoor Gear, and I made some!
Somewhere between “you don’t look your age!” and “are you sure you should be out here alone?” is a woman lacing up her boots, stuffing snacks in her pack, and heading out to find herself again—on a trail, a river, a mountaintop.
She’s over 50.
She’s still going.
But outdoor gear?
It hasn’t quite caught up with her.
The industry forgot we were still here
Let’s be honest: a lot of gear is made for 20-somethings with six-pack abs and the metabolism of a caffeinated squirrel. And that’s fine—good for them. But where’s the gear for women who’ve got laugh lines, experience, and a strong opinion about what actually works in the wild?
Women over 50 want gear that’s functional, flattering, and thoughtfully made. We want layers that breathe, fabrics that move, and designs that actually consider how our bodies have changed. And for those of us who still love getting outdoors but hate feeling exposed—whether by the weather, or the lack of bathroom access—we need smarter solutions. (Ahem… like a skort with a secret opening and unsnappable briefs. Just saying.)
We’re not slowing down
This isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about now.
We’re walking ancient trails, sleeping under stars, paddling new waters. We’ve raised kids, faced down storms, and we still show up—boots on, hearts open.
We deserve gear that honors that.
Because it’s not just about staying comfortable outdoors.
It’s about claiming our freedom, our confidence, and our right to keep going—on our terms.
